About Me

I have numerous things wrong with me physically: Hyperparathyroidism and asthma. I battle depression every day and in the past I suffered from bulimia. Combine that with my sister dying in March 2009 at 36 years old from something that we still can’t name, and my father-in-law dying from things that may or may not have been associated with a lifetime of abuse inflicted upon his body, I knew that something had to change. If I wanted to life a long life watching my daughter grow up with my husband, we had to make serious changes.

I’m Kristina and I am doing something in this picture that I have not done in a long time. I’m smiling.

The journey to that smile is years in the making but what brought it on took place in only two months. After a long battle with obesity, eating disorders, and yo-yo dieting, I found Everyday Paleo, The Paleo Diet, and The Paleo Solution. And what I began wasn’t a diet. I declared that I was done with dieting on July 4, 2011. What I began was My Life, Improved.

The truth is that I have started this journey many times before and have failed. I’m talking slammed on my face, failed. I have contemplated weight loss surgery and came very close to having it this summer (2011) but decided that the universe was trying to prevent it from happening. I recognize when things are not supposed to happen; I’m an atheist but I’m no dummy! I follow my intuition. This decision catapulted me into a whirlwind of emotional fucked-uped-ness and eventually lead me to the realization that I had been doing it all wrong.

So with the help of some really cool people, my husband and I are embarking on a mission to change  our lives by developing healthy habits that will rub off on our 5 year old. We hope to lose a total of 460 pounds together in total!

I beg you to help me along and to share your stories too. You can reach me here, on twitter (a little more social media focused), or at this twitter (me only more blunt).
