Sausage-Apple Dressing

I love stuffing/dressing. LOVE IT! My husband, not so much! But he enjoyed this so much! Who needs bread?!
Ingredients
- 1 Large Carrot (or 2 small ones), diced.
- 2 Stalks of celery, diced.
- 1 Large Onion, diced.
- 1 Large Red Apple, diced.
- 4 Cloves of Garlic, minced.
- 2 lbs Ground Italian Sausage (nitrate free if possible).
- 1 tbs oregano
- 1 tsp basil
- 1 tsp poultry seasoning
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup of Chicken Broth
Instructions
- Sauté sausage in chicken fryer until brown on outside but still pink in the middle. Be sure to break it up into fine pieces.
- Scoop out sausage and set aside.
- In the fat from sausage, sauté the veggies until onions are clear.
- Add apples to pan and mix in seasoning.
- Mix veggies and apples with sausage. Be sure to mix well.
- Pour into 9“x11” pan spreading so that it is even.
- Add chicken broth.
- Back at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
